One of the first projects that is going to be done around here is the new driveway. The current one is old and cracked everywhere, and with the shifting of the earth the jagged edges of the concrete are coming up. Not exactly appealing to look at or all that safe. It needs to be done so that the kids don’t hurt themselves and so I can park the car without feeling like I’m on speeds bumps.

Looking at it with a contractor makes me think this could be quite the spendy project. With concrete prices where they’re at it being one of the main culprits for the price. The driveway itself is big enough to fit 4 cars lined up or parked 2 by 2. So while the actually pouring of the concrete doesn’t need to be deep it does need to cover a vast area and thus a lot of volume will be needed. Luckily, nothing needs to be done at the base of the garage; the house and thus the floor of the garage, are newer then the rest of the property so at least I don’t need to worry about that so much. Not sure why it wasn’t torn up to begin with, perhaps it was a money issue for the previous owners.

Anyway, it will be nice to have a smooth driveway once again, tripping trying to get to the car door can be a pain. Not having to worry about the weeds growing through the cracks will be another nice feature of the garage, one less honey-do chore!
